Mark Raffills Managing Director
Mark is a one of a kind, salt of the earth and friend of humanity. He is also the big bad boss at Dry Crust - the man with the plan. A broad range of both local government, commercial and social clients have availed themselves of the skills and passionate belief he brings to his work. A band manager and published poet, Raffills performs regularly at festivals and performance venues around the country with his 'Dirt Floor' productions.
Fact: If you are selling anything to do with Bob Dylan then Mark will buy it.
Paul Jennings Editorial Manager
Paul likes to think of himself as a modern day Hong-Kong Phooey. By day a mild mannered communications professional, by night an Olympic cyclist who these days excels at both skids and jumps. Paul's career has seen him managing internal communications for Wal-Mart in the UK through to public relations campaigns for companies such as British Telecom, Karen Millen and Sony. Paul manages our relationship with Tasman District Council and leads our editorial team.
Fact: Paul's lungs were once measured at over 8 litres, and as a child he held his breath in a Jacuzzi for nearly 6 minutes. Ace.
Anna Thomas Administration
When you come through the front door of Dry Crust Towers, or give us a call on the phone, what you want is a big friendly smile, a cheerful hello and service that would put John McEnroe to shame. That's why we have Anna. After studying in Otago for a stint and probably setting fire to the odd sofa to ward off the cold, Anna headed to the bright lights of Wellington for a job with the Motor Trade Association (MTA) as its Project Coordinator. However, the lure of the sunniest place in NZ was too much, which is how she ended up becoming a valued member of the Dry Crust team.
Fact - Anna was once one of only three people in the Super Speller Club at her school. Ka Pai.
Aaron Ward Studio Manager
Aaron is our man when it comes to producing high page-count documents that would test the patience of any human being. Council Annual Plans & policy documents are his playground and he excels in both accuracy of content and design flair - ensuring they both engage and educate the audience. No easy task. Aaron is currently in his sixth year as a designer. His first three years were spent designing websites, branding and print material for V2 Global.
Fact: he has a hidden ability for macabre doodle pad sketches.
PS: He's in the black hat, not the pink.
Sarah Ryder Writer/Publication Coordinator
Writer, account manager and all round ace person Sarah Ryder has six year's experience in a marketing communications role with Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and prior to that worked for Diageo Global Supply based in Dublin in the Product Change and Development team for the Guinness brand (read into that what you will - sounds like organising a booze up in a brewery to me!).
Fact: Sarah can pick a cork up off the floor without putting her hands down (try it if you think it sounds easy!)
Bob Irvine Writer
Bob... is one of our copy and feature writers.
Bob... is an eagle eyed proof-reader and editor/writer of Mudcakes and Roses, a Dry Crust publication for the 50+
Bob... is a journalist with 25 years' experience
Bob... has written for the New Zealand Herald, Christchurch Press, Nelson Mail, national magazines, television and radio
Bob... is a renowned amateur ukulele player and renovator of poptop campers.
Fact: We like Bob
Leigh Becker Graphic Designer
When it comes to eye-popping graphic design, such as his work on the award winning JAM magazine, Leigh has no equal. But what makes him a real star in our eyes is his attention to detail and layout skills, which make him equally as valuable to us on the 'bread and butter' jobs as on the graphic tour-de-forces. With over six years experience, Leigh's work displays a unique style that our clients love.
Fact: Leigh loves dressing up in army gear and shooting at his 'mates' with high powered BB guns - an activity code named 'airsoft'.
Tama Easton Digital Manager
Tama possesses the rare talent of understanding and communicating with both computers and people. You can almost see his eyes spin as he shifts between the left and right sides of his brain. He wrote his first computer programme in 1981 at the tender age of 7 and was online in 1989 before the internet had even made it to New Zealand. His work experience includes library systems, a television series, award winning websites, viral videos, magazine editorship, local government communications, event management, creating one of New Zealand's most popular online communities and fixing bicycles with a big hammer.
Fact: His great obsession is epic mountain biking missions in the mountains of New Zealand.
Rosanna Martin Business Support Manager
Rosanna has been with Dry Crust for over 10 years (people get off lighter than that for murder!) and is invaluable to our smooth operation. Her current responsibilities include both human resources and budget/accounts.
Fact: Rosanna has a competitive edge that puts Bevan Docherty to shame. Be it ten pin bowling, croquet or tiddly winks, Rosanna plays to win (and lets you know about it when she does - IN YOUR FACE)
Alan Williamson Advertising Sales
Where do we start when profiling Alan? I'll take my lead from the Sound of Music and start at the beginning... A sales career spanning 30 years; a five year stint at Channel 4 television in the UK looking after its advertising and marketing; his position as a board member at Cravens advertising agency for over 13 years. How does that sound?
Fact: Alan plays off a golfing handicap of 5. Read into that what you will.
Dr Jeff Simmonds Web Developer
Jeff has 17 years experience and develops Content Management Systems for the majority of our web clients. Jeff is also a film and documentary maker and along with his brother was the New Zealand New Film Maker of the Year in 2006. He has worked with Dry Crust since the formation of the company.
Fact: Just because Jeff is a doctor doesn't mean that he should be trusted with diagnosing your medical ills. His usual diagnosis is 'more beer, less exercise'.
Abe Raffills Film maker
Abe is a film maker, cameraman, director, and editor with over 10 years work experience in the industry. Presenter of the television series Primo Free Rider and Sprite Winter Diaries, Abe also produced the latter shows. Television programming and the production of DVD and multi-media presentations for Dry Crust's clients and commissioned documentary making continue to be his specialities. He has worked with Dry Crust for over five years.
Fact: Abe Raffills has the same surname as our illustrious leader. Funny that.
Matt Robinson Creative Director
Matt is Dry Crust's Creative Director (with that kind of title he should wear a beret and come to work in a purple velour suit in my opinion!) and has a CV that really is rather special. Over 18 years of creative design experience, specialising in branding and corporate identity for clients such as InterContinental Hotels Group, Morgan Lovell, Timberland, Microsoft and the National Trust. Matt directs the tone for Dry Crust's creative work and is responsible for any re-branding or corporate ID work we undertake.
Fact: Matt is also a Formula 1 disciple - drawn in by the technology, precision and strategy (and not just those lovely brolly girls).
